Edna Ferber [Edna Ferber]
(1887–1968) a US writer of novels, short stories and plays. Her long novels often tell stories spread over many years. So Big (1924), about rich families in ↑Chicago, won the ↑Pulitzer Prize, Giant (1952) was about ↑Texas, and Show Boat (1926), about a Southern family, became a successful ↑Broadway musical play. All three were made into films. Ferber also wrote plays with George Kaufmann, including Dinner at Eight (1932).
